June 2021 - News and Events
Hello,
I have just been rescuing peonies from being bashed by wind and rain in my garden. Lovely June weather, I am convinced that as soon as the peonies come out the weather goes aha they are out let’s get them.. I have brought some in to the sitting room and they perked up and I am enjoying them.
I have been busy sewing this week. I am doing a mystery block of the day and am using it to test out how one of these works as a sewist, sewer, stitcher what ever we call ourselves. It was fun but I kept running out of fabric as I had thought to do it with scraps, lucky that there is a shop downstairs from my sewing room.
Did you watch the sewing bee?? I enjoyed it and loved Esme’s necklaces nearly as much as the sewing. The standard of work was really high this year, what talented young people. It was lovely to see that there are more of us on their way up.
Open House
Because of the change in the timetable for opening up the COVID restrictions I will have to run this as a restricted event this time. So if you haven’t already booked wit me then you need to be quick as there are only a few places left. I can’t have more than six people in the house and in fact am limiting this to four plus myself. There are quite a few places left in the afternoon so if you want to come along and see all the fabric out of its room then ring or email me asap. deborahcrees@sky.com We will be able to run a proper Open House soon.
I will also be running more classes from September onwards these will take place in Selston and mainly on Tuesdays. Keep an eye out for these in future newsletters.
In October I am hoping to hold tuffet making workshop with the lovely Gilli Theokritoff. Register your interest now as places will go quickly. We need to know numbers so we can get the kits together too.
Even more new fabric has arrived and I need to sell some or I may disappear under a mountain of Moda. There are some lovely new things arriving every week.
In response to lots of requests I have bought in some Bonnie and Camille it is the new collection called Sunday Stroll and it will go on the site this week. So far I have charm packs and layer cakes with a bolt each of red and white spots and black and white with little red strawberries on.
I am going to put together some kits for the fans of traditional and Civil War Fabrics. These will include a pattern and the necessary fabric and will be very keenly priced.
I have also got some lovely books from Moda with patterns for layer cakes, jelly rolls, mini charms and scraps. Have a look, They each have at least 15 patterns in them and I have bought some myself I am that impressed!! The American Gatherings book by Lisa Bonegan is wonderful, although I don’t think I will be making the American flag quilt!
Do come and see me I am at home on Mondays and Tuesdays so ring and make an appointment. The web site is updated regularly and there will be some new offers on there soon.
Do keep well and I hope you are all enjoying meeting up with family and friends.
More news soon
Best wishes
